Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) - Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

A Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) enables nursing professionals to attain the pinnacle of clinical practice in nursing. This advanced degree not only reinforces the specialized knowledge in adult and geriatric care but also propels the nurse practitioners to lead interprofessional health care teams. It instills a robust understanding of evidence-based practice, enabling graduates to integrate research into clinical practice for improved patient outcomes. Additionally, the degree empowers nursing professionals to shape health care policy by using their advanced clinical expertise and leadership skills, playing a pivotal role in advancing the health care system. Students must achieve a total of 1,000 practicum hours between their master’s degree transcript and DNP coursework (750 hours are built into the role integration practicum courses). A GAP Analysis will be used to determine program requirements.

The DNP consists of a total of 76 credits, 30 from the DNP core, 25 from the MSN core, and 21 from the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) track. One on-campus residence for skills practice lab and one day for DNP project dissemination and competency demonstration are required.
