Grace United Methodist Church

Though Morningside is no longer directly linked to the Methodist church, Grace United Methodist Church is located on the southeast of the campus. Church services are still offered, and many students have even partnered with the church in the past. This space is also home to one of our Morningsiders’ favorite academic year activities: Midnight Breakfast! Grace United Methodist Church is also open to the public.

Hilker Campus Mall

Running through the center of campus, the Hilker Campus Mall is one of Morningside’s most often used common areas. Constructed in 2008, this is a pedestrian mall and green space that starts behind Lewis Hall and extends south past the Hickman-Johnson-Furrow Learning Center. It is terminated at Garretson Avenue near the Eugene C. Eppley Fine Arts Building.

This area is commonly walked by students in between classes and includes the Buhler Outdoor Performance Center, the Lieder Family Fountain, and the Kline Family Pergola.

Krone Center

Built in 2014, this building is connected to Buhler Rohlfs Hall and houses most of the university engagement team, which includes marketing, communication, alumni engagement, sports information, and career services. Students and alumni are encouraged to stop by anytime to visit or get more information.

Olsen Student Center

Olsen Student Center was built in 1962 and is considered to be the hub of student activity on campus. It is home to the Wikert Dining Hall, or the Caf, the Mustang Grill, the Hickman Dining Room, Yockey Family Community Room, the bookstore, Campus Ministries, Personal Counseling, Tech Services, the student Post Office, and the Campus Health offices. Remodeled in 2007, the Caf and main level of the building are commonly used for events as well as consistent meals.

The Olsen Student Center is also home to the Student Government office and is where Morningside’s Funny Friday series, slam poets, and other performers come. Located directly off Peters Avenue, Olsen Student Center is easy to access and is central to the campus.

Physical Plant Building

Constructed in 2007, this building is located on the south edge of campus. The Physical Plant Building also happens to be home to the maintenance department and the print shop. This is a building that students have the opportunity to complete work study jobs at.
