Whether you need some health advice or you are looking for a way to relax and rejuvenate from the stresses of class, Judi and the rest of the student health staff is here to help. As a full-time student, it is FREE and easy for you to schedule an appointment with health services right on campus! Check out how they promote student health and how they are always here for you!

A Word from Judi: My goal as a school nurse, educator, and lifelong learner is to support student physical, mental, social, emotional, and intellectual health to achieve educational goals. Supporting these aspects will help students maximize personal wellness skills necessary for success in postsecondary education and future professional endeavors.

Reason for the Health Form: Vaccination status is one way we keep our campus community healthy, and certain immunizations are dictated by the state. The health history helps us better understand your needs when seeking assistance at Student Health. REMINDER: Failure to have this on file and vaccinations compliant will keep you from registering for your second semester at Morningside!

Reasons to see Judi: Full-time students can see me FREE of charge and visits are CONFIDENTIAL! I am located right on campus (lower level of Olsen Center) so students don’t have to go far to receive care. If a student happens to need outside care they can come to me for local referrals for all their health needs. No topic is off-limits! I am here to educate students on all things, from wellness issues (stress/sleep/nutrition) to advice for self-care for colds, coughs and sore throats, or physical injuries. I love to meet new people, so don’t hesitate to come see me for anything!

Self-care items students should have: #1 and most important a WORKING thermometer, along with Band-Aids, and over-the-counter medications for fever, cough, and decongestant needs. Make sure you have at least a 2 week supply of any prescription medications you require. ALWAYS remember to check the expiration dates and update items when they expire!

Some Services offered: Students can receive an exam from a registered nurse and access to a doctor or nurse practitioner on campus several hours per week. Also available to students are allergy shots, flu shots, vaccinations, over-the-counter medications (1-2 day supply), as well as first aid. Students can also relax and rejuvenate for a few minutes in our FREE electronic massage chair!

How Student Health works with Students: We have an online scheduling system for both the Registered Nurse as well as the Electronic Massage chair. Scheduling an appointment ahead of time is preferred. Self-care is all that is needed many times, but we can offer advice during an appointment and can give you a small amount (until you can get a supply) of over-the-counter medicines as needed. Walk-in patients are welcome but may have a wait.

We encourage you to work with your professors if you are missing classes. We do not write any notes for professors. If during an appointment the Registered Nurse or Doctor/Nurse Practitioner excuse you from classes the Dean of Students is notified. The Dean will notify your faculty and /or coaches etc. as the official notification. We can assist you with off-campus doctor notes of excuse also.
